Alverno's Courier Department consists of 90 persons based at the Hammond Central Laboratory, Kankakee, IL, and Urbana, IL laboratories.

• Fleet of 47 clean, professional, and well maintained vehicles.
• 44 Static Routes supporting 28 hospitals and 18 Patient Service Centers.
• 54,000+ miles driven weekly.

Courier support is available for Hospital and Client needs every day of the week.

• Frequencies of pick ups are strategically planned. Turn around time is paramount.  Our department picks up:
  • General Lab - just under 7,000 specimens daily
  • Microbiology - specimens transported in incubated coolers to reduce turn around time of results.
  • Histology - specimens in and finished product out on a committed time schedule.
  • Molecular Biology - drug resistent staph infections are special service.

Training:

• Intensive two day in house training program including:
  • Biohazard Training
  • Specimen Intregrity
  • Proper Transport Procedure
  • Defensive Driving Ride Along
  • Review of Driver Safety Manuel
• On the Job Training of individual routes and client needs
• Annual training thru computer based training modules
• Required monthly Courier meetings to insure the most up to date communication/
